For many couples the answer to their fertility problems can only be improved or treated using assisted conception methods such as IVF (Invitro fertilisation) and / or ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection). These treatments have been developed and improved since the first IVF pregnancy in the late 1970s and involves the collection of eggs from the female patient and fertilising these eggs and growing the subsequent embryos outside of the body for 5 days before replacing an embryo.

Now more than 50,000 couples undergo treatment every year in the UK, with around 2% of all UK births from Assisted Conception.

What to expect during IVF Treatment?

The process of IVF treatment has become much smoother and easier to undertake and at North West Fertility almost all our cycles are undertaken using the safer short cycle of treatment to avoid any of the complications of IVF.

We also strongly advise the replacement of 1 embryo at a time with freezing and storage of suitable embryos for future use
