Meet Our Team

Mr Michael Ellard

Fertility Consultant

Michael Ellard, a native of Northern Ireland, graduated from the medical school at Queen’s University in Belfast. He is a NHS consultant at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals and has led the fertility service there since 2005 where he also has a recurrent miscarriage clinic.

He started working in fertility and IVF in 1997 in Bath, where he set up a successful egg donation service. He has continued to work in a number of IVF units and sat up a successful satellite IVF service that ran along side his NHS clinic.

He also provides laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery to support, where indicated, fertility treatment.

His main interests are lifestyle optimisation for fertility, implantation failure, ovulation disorders, including polycystic ovaries and premature menopause.

Mr Simon Wood

Fertility Consultant

Simon first started working in Fertility in 1996, and was the first person to undertake sub specialty training in Reproductive Medicine in the Northwest. He was appointed a consultant in Chester in 2003 and since then led the fertility service providing a very successful and popular satellite IVF service. In 2017 Simon led the development of a very successful IVF unit in Chester with the investment of private partners, and remained leading this service until the service left the NHS in 2023 .

His experiences has lead him to have a clear understanding of the individual needs of both private and NHS patients and a desire to provide couples and individuals the best quality patient centred care.
